While the entire aluminum can is recyclable, we specifically collect pop tabs because they are pure aluminum (without paint or liners) and take up far less storage space at our House. They are also worth more to recyclers!
When our designated pop tab recycling bin is full, a local recycling partner weighs the aluminum and provides a donation check based on current market rates. 100% of these funds go directly toward our daily operating expenses, ensuring our doors stay open for families in need.
Pop tabs can be dropped off at Ronald McDonald House Charleston: 81 Gadsden St., Charleston, SC 29401.
Donations are accepted 7 days a week, 7:00am – 8:00pm
If you are dropping off a large collection, please contact our Community Engagement Manager in advance so we can assist you at the door.
Please remember to log your name and donation weight on our donor sign-in sheet when dropping off tabs at the House!
Are you a long-term collector? Join our Million Tabs Club! Supporters who collect one million tabs are officially inducted into this special group of community heroes.
Are you a local brewery looking to make an impact in our community? Join us for Battle of the Breweries; a fun and friendly competition that brings together local favorites to support the families we serve at our House by collecting pop tabs.
In 2026, participating locations helped us collect over 400 pounds of pop tabs, turning small acts into big impact.
Participating partners have the opportunity to engage their customers by having them bring in tabs from home, showcase their brand throughout the competition, and give back in a meaningful way, all while being part of a high-energy, community-driven event that costs nothing for the business!
We bring you a container; you bring the tabs. At the end of the competition, we have a celebration with all the competitors and announce the winner of the golden pop tab and bragging rights until next year!
